چکیده

This article examines the baseline resilience of reinforced concrete (RC) moment frame buildings conforming to seismic design standards Canada. Metrics for robustness, rapidity, and are evaluated capture system’s reliability, speed recovery, socioeconomic impacts. Buildings different heights using nonlinear time-history analyses. Six damage states defined as disjoint branches an event tree depending on building’s path recovery. For a scenario earthquake magnitude 7.3 at distance 30 km from Vancouver, housing occupancy recovery trajectory is developed. Monte Carlo simulations used propagate uncertainty hazards building response lead time required found maintain 50%–65% their pre-event in immediate aftermath. The restored 90% within 2–4 months, with shorter period low-rise buildings, whereas system level requires 6 months 1 year restoration 90%. Seismic fragility assessment of RC moment resisting frame buildings designed for different editions of Iranian seismic design code

Background and objective: Developing fragility and vulnerability functions are important tools in seismic reliability assessment of buildings and are widely used in regional seismic risk studies. To date sufficient studies for developing analytical fragility functions for Iranian code-conforming buildings have not been carried out. Performing such studies are necessary to assess the adequacy of...

Effect of seismic sequences on fragility of Iranian code-conforming shear wall RC buildings

Background and objective: Estimating the vulnerability rate of urban textures in seismic incident following a major earthquake (aftershocks) is crucial in decision making and crisis management. For this purpose, it is necessary to calculate the vulnerability of buildings due to the successive incidents and to use them in the vulnerability estimation for probable future aftershocks. Seismic frag...

Probabilstic Seismic Risk Evaluation of Rc Buildings

As more and more emphasis is being laid on non-linear analysis of RC framed structures subjected to earthquake excitation, the research and development on both non-linear static (pushover) analysis as well as nonlinear dynamic (time history)analysis is in the forefront. Due to prohibitive computational time and efforts required to perform a complete nonlinear dynamic analysis, researchers and d...

Seismic Performance Assessment of Pre-70 RC Frame Buildings with FEMA P-58

Abstract—Past earthquakes have shown that seismic events may incur large economic losses in buildings. FEMA P-58 provides engineers a practical tool for the performance seismic assessment of buildings. In this study, FEMA P-58 is applied to two typical Italian pre-1970 reinforced concrete frame buildings, characterized by plain rebars as steel reinforcement and masonry infills and partitions. G...

Seismic Performance of RC Frames Irregular in Elevation Designed Based on Iranian Seismic Code

Setback in elevation of a structure is a special irregularity with considerable effect on its seismic performance. This paper addresses multistory Reinforced Concrete (RC) frame buildings, regular and irregular in elevation. Several multistory Reinforced Concrete Moment Resisting Frames (RCMRFs) with different types of setbacks, as well as the regular frames in elevation, are designed according...
